S. J. Amoroso Construction Co. Inc., was founded by Salvatore Amoroso, a second-generation general contractor whose father, Frank Amoroso held a career in construction at the start of the 20th century. Frank Amoroso played an important role in the reconstruction of many residential and commercial building projects immediately after San Francisco's catastrophic 1906 earthquake and subsequent fires.

Following his father's footsteps, in 1939 Sal founded
S. J. Amoroso Construction, Co. Inc., a company that grew from a local San Francisco Bay Area construction company into one of the most successful and prominent construction companies in California and surrounding areas.

In 1996, Sal's sons, who had been instrumental in building on the success from the 1960s until the sale, sold the construction company.

Today, they remain as principals in S. J. Amoroso Properties Co., which was founded by their father in 1959 as a separate entity. S. J. Amoroso Properties Co. buys and sells all types of commercial properties around the world as well as develops its own projects.
